Brilliant finishing, pioneering trends and sustainable added value: LEONHARD KURZ at LUXE PACK Monaco 2024
Fürth/Germany, September 4, 2024: From September 30 to October 2, the Principality of Monaco will once again be the meeting place for the international packaging industry when the renowned LUXE PACK trade fair opens its doors. As the leading platform for creative solutions, LUXE PACK offers an exceptional environment for manufacturers of high-quality luxury goods packaging. Once again this year, numerous decision-makers will take advantage of the unique atmosphere of the Grimaldi Forum to make valuable contacts and strengthen partnerships. LEONHARD KURZ will be presenting its latest developments in the midst of this creative community.
Make It Mono: SILVER LINE® adds a touch of luxury to packaging
An absolute highlight at the KURZ stand is the SILVER LINE® finishing line, which attracts everyone's attention with its diffractive effects. The silver-metallic play of light creates a special optical depth as well as the impression of movement and gives product packaging a sophisticated premium look. The range of possible finishes with SILVER LINE® is wide - from large-scale reflective or matte designs to brilliant, fine partial decorations. The finish always produces reliable and highly durable results.
Impressive shimmering appearance with LUMAFIN®
With LUMAFIN®, KURZ has another finish in its portfolio that creates unique visual effects. The semi-transparent decoration can be used to overprint a wide variety of motifs. The underlying designs shimmer through as if they were behind glass. LUMAFIN® gives cosmetics packaging, book covers, drinks and spirits labels and many other types of packaging a high-quality spot effect with visual depth and a unique shimmering look. The finish is available in transparent, transparent-metallic or in many different colors.
Brilliant colors and radiant white enhance plastic cosmetics packaging
LUXOR®/ALUFIN® SPP and SPW are two further finishing series with which KURZ demonstrates the further development of the traditional hot stamping process. Whilst LUXOR®/ALUFIN® SPP sets skillful accents with bright colors, fine decorations and sharp-edged motifs, LUXOR®/ALUFIN® SPW captivates with brilliant white, which attracts everyone's attention with its brilliant shine. Both finishes are particularly scratch and abrasion resistant and are characterized by their durability. At LUXE PACK, KURZ will be demonstrating the wide range of possible applications for decorating high-quality cosmetics packaging.
Brilliant, more brilliant, LUXOR®/ALUFIN®
KURZ's presence at the trade fair will also shine with further examples of the high-quality finishing options offered by the LUXOR®/ALUFIN® series. As multi-talented hot stamping finishes, the color variants of the series create breathtaking effects and elegant metallization. A wide range of options is available, from fine details to large-scale motifs. The sharp-edged metallizations can be produced in numerous color nuances and give any packaging a sophisticated look. Cardboard, paper and laminated surfaces can be finished and provided with brilliant haptic hot stamping.
boxes 60°: Translating social developments into design concepts
Year after year, the KURZ design team searches for current and future trends and social developments and incorporates them into a comprehensive design concept. This year, too, four elaborately designed cardboard boxes have been created under the name ‘60° - boxes to inspire’, which reflect the social trends of our time and introduce several brand new KURZ trend colors. The exclusive unveiling of the designs will take place at LUXE PACK in Monaco. A little spoiler in advance: This year, the boxes are triangular for the first time.
Sustainable added value for the packaging industry
Sustainability plays an enormously important role at LEONHARD KURZ. The specialist for thin-film technologies is continuously developing its own solutions, always pursuing the goal of making a contribution to greater environmental protection in the packaging industry. With the introduction of RECOSYS®, the world's first take-back and recycling system for surplus transfer media, KURZ has already positioned itself as a pioneer in this field. Now the system has been further developed: On the one hand, the range of carrier materials that can be recycled has been increased. Secondly, with RECOSYS® 2.0 it is now possible for the first time to produce recycled PET (rPET) and use it for numerous everyday products. KURZ is thus taking a significant step towards the circular economy and supporting its customers even more efficiently in improving their carbon footprint.
However, for KURZ, sustainability is not limited to the recycling of materials, but begins with the reduction of the material initially used. With KPS slim 2.0 (patent pending), the thin-film specialist has succeeded in reducing the thickness of the carrier material from 12 µm to a sensational 6 µm in cold transfer. KURZ will be demonstrating the difference at LUXE PACK.
Another highlight that impressively underpins the company's sustainability efforts is the KURZ Transfer Metal Technology (KTM). Here, a smart add-on module for existing laminating systems enables the high-quality finishing of numerous substrates - including paper and cardboard - with ultra-thin decorations. The high-gloss designs not only give every packaging an impressive look, but are also characterized by the fact that no plastic remains on the surface. This means that the recyclability of the packaging is not affected.
