Elegant, premium decorative elements and sustainable technologies: LEONHARD KURZ at LUXE PACK Monaco 2023
Fürth/Germany, September 14, 2023: As the leading international trade fair for manufacturers of high-quality luxury goods packaging, LUXE PACK Monaco attracts numerous industry representatives from all over the world to the Principality of Monaco year after year. Now in its 35th year, this high-profile event will take place from October 2 to 4, 2023, and will focus on creative design, sustainability and digital innovation. More than 450 international exhibitors will be presenting their new products.
LEONHARD KURZ will be there again this year and, together with its subsidiaries Hinderer + Mühlich (H+M), Steinemann DPE and ISIMAT, will be presenting highlights in hot stamping, cold transfer and digital finishing at booth DB11. One of the focal points will be the new edition of the ‘boxes’ creative packaging concept, which translates social movements and developments into creative design trends. The specialist in surface finishing will also be presenting new solutions that have been conceived entirely with luxurious, sustainable designs for packaging in mind.
SILVER LINE®: Elegant diffractive effects for high-quality premium designs
SILVER LINE® is a continuation of KURZ’s successful LIGHT LINE® finishing range. The new solution can be used to create holographic effects with special optical depth as well as unique motion and contrast effects that give packaging an elegant silver metallic look – now also achromatically without the usual rainbow effect. “SILVER LINE® enables us to create a particularly elegant, high-quality look that is ideal for premium cosmetics and spirits packaging, for example,” explains Stéphane Royère, Head of Business Area Packaging and Print at KURZ, adding: “SILVER LINE® is particularly effective over the entire surface, but can also be used for small details. It is the interplay between the finished and unfinished surfaces that creates unique designs.”
LUXOR® SPW: Brilliant gloss and long-lasting finishing for plastic cosmetics packaging
Another highlight in the KURZ portfolio is LUXOR® SPW. This enables brilliant white finishes to be achieved on plastic materials. "At LUXE PACK, we will be using high-quality designs for mascara containers, for example, to demonstrate how brilliant white decoration can be used to create glamorous accents,” explains Stéphane Royère. LUXOR® SPW can be used for large areas as well as for fine lines and details. It is scratch and abrasion resistant, ensuring that the brilliant gloss finish lasts.
KPS slim (Patent Pending): Less material consumption and smaller carbon footprint in cold transfer
“With every new refinement we develop, we always ask ourselves: How can we make this even more resource-efficient and environment-friendly than existing solutions? We will be presenting another successful example of this in the form of KPS slim (patent pending) at LUXE PACK in Monaco,” explains Stéphane Royère. The enhancement of the successful complete solution KPS SX+ is characterized by the significantly reduced thickness of the carrier material, which is now only 6 µm instead of the previous 12 µm. As a result, less waste is generated during production and the lower material usage reduces the carbon footprint – all with improved covering capacity and impressive edge definition, even with recycled, thin or difficult substrates.
KURZ Transfer Metal: Sustainable finishing with a radiant sheen
Another ultra-thin finish from the KURZ portfolio is the KURZ Transfer Metal solution. This allows high-gloss designs to be achieved. “As usual with our finishes, KURZ Transfer Metal does not leave plastic on the product. This makes it a sustainable alternative to conventional laminates and ideal for manufacturers who value recyclable and more environment-friendly decoration, while keeping the gloss at the forefront,” says Stéphane Royère.
Everything from a single source: A group of companies with wide-ranging expertise
The KURZ Group combines the expertise of several specialists in their respective fields and thus offers its customers comprehensive advice, from the initial idea to the finished packaging, as will also be impressively demonstrated at LUXE PACK. KURZ subsidiaries Hinderer + Mühlich (H+M), Steinemann DPE and ISIMAT will also be on board. Hot stamping tool expert H+M will demonstrate the latest stamping technologies using an exclusive finished poster. Machine manufacturer Steinemann DPE will demonstrate the possibilities of digital finishing using samples finished with the DM-MAXLINER 3D. ISIMAT will present new products from the inLINE FOILING® sector.
