Innovation through experience: LEONHARD KURZ introduces the next generation of digital finishing
Fürth/Germany, August 24, 2021: Always a step ahead: Since the first DM-Liner was introduced in 2014, LEONHARD KURZ has continuously developed its digital finishing solutions. Based on a foundation that has been installed worldwide, KURZ's third generation of DM-JETLINER and DM-UNILINER 2D delivers tried-and-tested technology with improved design and custom-tailored features.
From foil to paper labels: The Panorama Portfolio
In addition to optimizing digital finishing unit functions, this KURZ innovation has also increased the number of potential substrates: From plastic to paper, a broad assortment is available. Thanks to this recent expansion, the lineup ranges from products like shrink sleeve labels to coated and uncoated papers.
Thanks to the unique ‘inkjet on transfer layer’ technology, the surface to be printed remains unchanged, despite the large number of possible substrates. For customers this means, on the one hand, precision control of processes, and on the other, less time and effort, because no in-depth knowledge is required for production at consistently high quality. It has never been easier to facilitate design options and add shimmering metallization when refining your own products.
DM-JETLINER: A wide range of capabilities
The DM-JETLINER is ideal for companies that already produce digitally printed labels and would like to expand their design options. This digital finishing module is easily integrated into the production chain of an HP Indigo 6900, thus allowing metallization without changes to existing processes. The DM-JETLINER applies finishes inline during the preprint process, subsequently overprinting them in the same process step.
DM-UNILINER 2D: The independent all-rounder
The DM-UNILINER 2D also applies finishes with glossy metallization and bright color effects. This stand-alone production unit can be used independent of printing systems and processes. It is a solution that provides preprint or postprint finishing, making the DM-UNILINER 2D system suited to companies that value flexibility with a high degree of finishing automation. In particular, because order size is not decisive here, appealing decorations can be applied to smaller product runs and special editions as well.
Sustainable, efficient solutions from a single source
Both the DM-JETLINER and the DM-UNILINER 2D combine the advantages of digital finishing over those of classic embossing processes. They are foil-saving units with minimal set-up time and high printing speed, and are thus a sustainable finishing solution that significantly reduces energy consumption. Embossing tools are moreover no longer necessary, while waste is also held to a minimum because fewer test runs are required than with conventional methods.
And there is another factor which increases process efficiency. As a one-stop shop, LEONHARD KURZ provides perfectly aligned systems, from the machine and consumables such as transfer products and ink, to service. The experts at KURZ are glad to assist customers with queries related to technology and production, both via remote support and on-site service.
