KURZ presents innovations and trends from the field of plastic decoration

Fuerth/Germany, 14/04/2021: In the coming weeks, LEONHARD KURZ will give insights into pioneering processes, product solutions, and current challenges in the field of plastic decoration in five free online workshops. Focusing on automotive, consumer electronics, home appliances, and sustainability in the plastics sector, these workshops are aimed at developers and designers from the respective industries. After a roughly one-hour talk (in English), the KURZ experts will be available for questions from the participants in the chat. In the fast lane of future mobility with fascinating surface decorations
The first online workshop focuses on innovative and functional surface design for the automobile of tomorrow. Sven Oberndörfer, Area Sales Manager Automotive Asia at LEONHARD KURZ, demonstrates pioneering decoration possibilities for the vehicles of the future and explains how touch functions can be integrated in interactive Shy Tech designs. In particular, the challenges of electromobility will be discussed with the participants. Various case studies illustrate the options for impressive decoration of wall boxes, front panels, and trims.

Inner values count – next level decoration for automotive interiors
Fascination at first glance: The interior of a vehicle must impress just as much as the exterior design. In this workshop, Dr. Markus Fischer, Key Account Manager Automotive Europe at LEONHARD KURZ, and Luitpold Haarlaender, Director Business Development at subsidiary Burg Design GmbH, explain the innovative and sustainable decoration options for plastic surfaces in vehicles of the future. Participants will get to know KURZ’s processes in detail and learn more about new metallizations, interactive Shy Tech designs, and antibacterial surfaces with KURZ BIOFENSE.

The online workshop uses clear application examples to show how recyclates can be used in components without having to compromise on appearance. Conventional decoration methods are compared to process solutions from KURZ. LEONHARD KURZ Project Manager for Innovation & Sustainability Johannes Romming also gives the participants insights into the unique KURZ RECOPOUND® concept, with which the company and its customers make the holistic approach of the circular economy a reality.

Proven surface decoration processes creating irresistible customer experiences
What trends and innovations are there in the area of decoration methods for consumer electronics? What makes indium the future-proof metallization option? And – especially relevant in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic – how can surfaces be equipped with anti-bacterial or, in the future, even anti-viral properties? With this online workshop, Nick Wagner, Head of Business Area Plastic Decoration Sales and Marketing, and Carsten Siebarth, Key Account Manager Notebook/Consumer Electronics, are targeting product developers and designers from the consumer electronics segment. Various options for decoration and design will be presented – from backlighting effects to touch control and design-driven customization of special series.

Eco-friendly, smart, and attractive: Household appliances have long been more than practical aids in everyday life. But what methods should be used in the development of the latest product generations to really win over customers and consumers? Steven Hirschberg, Key Account Manager Home Appliances, and project manager Raimund Fritsch use various examples to demonstrate the many possibilities for innovative interface designs. They discuss KURZ’s wide range of available finishing options – from KURZ IMD UNIFY, the solution for customizing special models in series, to individual image decoration for high-quality branding. The experts also explain the new indium metallization option for the integration of smart functions, and KURZ BIOFENSE for antibacterial plastic surfaces.
